Diabetes & endocrinology treatment

Diabetes affects the whole family. The pediatric diabetes program at Advocate Children’s Hospital offers a comprehensive approach to caring for young patients with juvenile diabetes and their families.

While diabetes is a serious, chronic disease, it's very manageable. Our dedicated program is committed to helping children with diabetes live long and healthy lives. And we’re devoted to supporting families as they learn the necessary skills to manage their children’s diabetes at home.

Helping with your child’s diabetes care every step of the way

We provide all-around care to manage Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes and the monogenic form of diabetes (a rare condition resulting from changes in a single gene).

Our team of knowledgeable pediatric endocrinologists, pediatric nurses, dietitians and diabetes educators is here to help guide you. We know a diabetes diagnosis can bring up emotional concerns for young patients and their families, so we also offer access to a psychologist to help you talk through those concerns.

To help guide you to the right information, we offer advanced diagnostics and treatments, extensive physician access and outpatient education programming for diabetes. Find out more about what we offer for diabetes services and treatment.

  • Growth disorders
  • Thyroid disorders, including thyroid nodules and cancer
  • Calcium and bone disorders
  • Adrenal disorders, including adrenal insufficiency and Cushing's syndrome

We also offer specific diagnostic laboratory and radiologic testing:

  • Provocative testing for growth hormone deficiency and precocious (early) puberty and other hormonal disorders
  • Diagnostic imaging for assessment of endocrine disease

Our physicians will provide care to patients with endocrine complications following cancer therapy as well.

In addition, our team will provide comprehensive care for your child by working with other departments, including pediatric specialists in cancer, genetics, urology, heart disorders, blood disorders and kidney diseases. Whatever your child is facing, we’re here to guide your family on the best path to care.
