There are several ways to find a participating doctor or pharmacist:

  • Ask your current doctor or pharmacist if they accept Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or the health plan you selected.
    • If you've been getting care from a provider who doesn’t accept Medicaid, CHIP, or any of its health plans, you still may be able to see that provider for a short time until you find another. But you’ll need to ask your state’s Medicaid or CHIP program or the health plan you selected.
  • Check the website of your health plan. Most Medicaid and CHIP programs and other plans provide provider lists.
  • Call your state Medicaid or CHIP agency or your health plan. Find the phone number on your eligibility letter, enrollment card, or the agency’s or plan’s website.
  • When making an appointment, tell the provider you’re enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP, or give them the name of your health plan. For any questions or concerns, call your state Medicaid or CHIP agency or your health plan.

The open enrollment period occurs once a year. During this time, you’ll receive a letter from Medicaid with the option to switch plans.

Redetermination is an annual review of a patient’s eligibility for Medicaid. You’ll first receive a letter to watch for the redetermination form coming in the mail. A few weeks later you’ll receive the redetermination form.

Important: Return the form by the due date or your child’s medical card will be terminated.
