Psycho-Educational Consultation & Evaluation Services (PECES)
Psycho-Educational Consultation and Evaluation Services (PECES), founded in 1984 by Marjorie A. Getz, PhD, is a child-, family- and school-centered program in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Developmental Pediatrics, at Advocate Children's Hospital - Park Ridge, and part of Advocate Medical Group. PECES offers a wide range of services related to your child's educational, emotional and behavioral health needs, including:
- Consultation related to school readiness, services and functioning
- Review of school records and private evaluations
- On-site home and school observations
- Psychoeducational evaluations
- Participation, with parents, in school and hospital staffings
- Long-term monitoring of progress
The PECES evaluation document is considered an independent educational evaluation (IEE). Schools are obligated to consider the results of IEEs in relation to providing your child with a free appropriate public education and determine eligibility for a 504 Plan or an Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Our PECES referral base is diverse and includes parents, primary care physicians, sub-specialty physicians and therapists, attorneys, and leaders in both public and private schools. Regardless of referral source or funding, PECES providers maintain neutrality regarding their diagnostic formulations, communication of findings, and recommendations.
